Too Good To Go has introduced a new food delivery initiative, called the Parcels service, aimed at providing affordable groceries while reducing food waste. This service delivers discounted food staples from a variety of well-known brands directly to customers’ doors.
The Parcels service features ambient goods that are easy to store, including coffee, tea, snacks, soups, sauces, pasta, confectionery, and more. Customers can enjoy products from popular brands such as Heinz, Tony’s Chocolonely, Minor Figures, and Skinny Food Co., with additional household names expected to join soon.
Already a favourite among UK consumers for its ‘Surprise Bags’—discounted collections of surplus food from high-street eateries and supermarkets—Too Good To Go boasts over 15 million registered users in the UK. Its new food delivery option is set to further its mission of tackling food waste while helping people save money.
Mette Lykke, CEO of Too Good To Go, expressed her enthusiasm for the launch, highlighting its potential to address concerns over the rising cost of living. She stated:
“We really want to fit into consumers’ daily lives. People can get items they need straight away and stock up on other essentials.”
The environmental impact of the service is significant, with each 5.8kg parcel estimated to prevent around 14.5kg of CO2 emissions. Across Europe, nearly 12 million tonnes of food are wasted annually during the manufacturing stage alone. Through its Parcels service, Too Good To Go offers consumers the opportunity to rescue surplus food from large-scale producers and reduce waste.
The company is also working to educate people on food labels to help them throw away less food at home. Ms. Lykke emphasized the global importance of reducing food waste, noting that around 40% of food produced worldwide is discarded. She urged governments, including the UK, to implement stronger targets to combat waste at the manufacturing level.
Too Good To Go’s app is free to download on both the Apple Store and Google Play. With the new food delivery Parcels service, the company hopes to become a go-to solution for budget-conscious shoppers and those seeking eco-friendly ways to manage their groceries.
This innovative approach to food delivery not only saves consumers money but also helps protect the environment, proving that sustainable practices can benefit everyone.
