Reiterating The Rise In Scam Messages

We already wrote about this scam messages before (SEE HERE FOR ARTICLE) but we wanted to get the message out so that as many people are as vigilant as possible when dealing with fraudsters.

Courier companies play a vital role in facilitating the efficient delivery of parcels and packages. However, there has been a growing concern recently regarding counterfeit scam messages exploiting the names and reputations of legitimate courier services. These scams typically involve deceptive messages sent to individuals, falsely claiming to be from reputable courier companies.

The fraudulent messages often inform recipients about a purported undelivered package or a pending delivery issue. To enhance the illusion of authenticity, scammers may employ logos and branding elements resembling those of well-known courier services. The messages typically include urgent instructions or requests for personal information, such as payment details or addresses, under the guise of resolving the alleged delivery problem.

To safeguard against falling victim to these scams, it’s crucial to exercise vigilance and be aware of certain warning signs:

  1. Unsolicited Messages: Legitimate courier companies generally do not send unsolicited messages regarding delivery issues. Be wary of unexpected messages, especially if you haven’t recently placed an order for delivery.
  2. Grammar and Spelling Errors: Scam messages often contain grammatical or spelling mistakes. Legitimate companies typically uphold a high standard of communication.
  3. Check the Sender’s Details: Verify the sender’s email address or phone number. Legitimate courier companies typically have official and easily verifiable contact information.
  4. Avoid Clicking on Suspicious Links: Scammers may include links in their messages that lead to phishing websites. Refrain from clicking on any links unless you can confirm the legitimacy of the message.
  5. Contact the Courier Company Directly: If you receive a suspicious message, contact the courier company directly using official contact information. Avoid using the contact details provided in the message.

Reporting any suspected scams to the relevant authorities or the legitimate courier company is essential. Furthermore, educating yourself and others about these scams can help prevent individuals from falling victim to fraudulent schemes. Courier companies often provide information on their websites regarding common scams and how to verify the authenticity of messages purportedly sent by them. Stay informed and cautious to protect yourself from these deceptive practices.

IF YOU ARE DUE TO RECEIVE A PARCEL AND RECEIVE A TEXT SAYING ‘WE WERE UNABLE TO DELIVER AND YOU NEED TO PAY £XXX FOR US TO REATTEMPT‘ – DO NOT PAY! DELIVERY COMPANIES ARE PAID BY THE SENDER SO IF ANY MONEY IS OWED FOR THE PARCEL TO BE DELIVERED, THE DELIVERY COMPANY WILL CHASE THE SENDER FOR ANY OUTSTANDING PAYMENT.
